I was proud to be part of a powerful and emotional moment yesterday—the unveiling of Bellevue’s new Hometown Heroes Banner Campaign honoring our local fallen soldiers. The, hosted by the incredible April Fleming of Ape Made It, was a heartfelt tribute to those who gave everything in service to our country.

On display in the heart of our community, the ceremony brought together families, friends, veterans, and neighbors to remember and celebrate the lives of our hometown heroes. Each banner represents a story of sacrifice. A vivid reminder of that sacrifice, courage, and love. Seeing the new banners proudly displayed across the city is a moving reminder of the price of freedom.

One of the most impactful moments of the day came from Army Spc. Russell E. Madden’s father, Marty Madden. A Gold Star father who stood before the crowd, to speak about his son and the meaning behind this campaign. Marty’s powerful message added a deeply personal touch to the ceremony, and it was a privilege to witness and capture his tribute.

It was an honor to be there documenting this touching moment through my lens. As a photographer, it’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do—capturing the emotion, the unity, and the legacy of those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice.

A few photos from the event are included below, with more to come. I’ll be sharing additional moments soon—so check back as we continue to honor these heartfelt memories together.

To April Fleming’s crew and everyone at The Barracks Project who helped make this campaign possible—thank you for your vision and dedication. This project ensures that our heroes are never forgotten.
